Healing the Motor Home
by Carol Howard
This story is a true testimony to the power of positive thinking and that there is NOTHING that is impossible. Doc
and I were on our way to Los Angeles, traveling West on Hwy. 10 somewhere between 100 miles from where we had been,
and another 100 or so to the first sign of civilization. This means we were out in the middle of nowhere, in the
desert, and we decided to pull off the side of the road for a quick, necessary break.
The motorhome had no sooner come to a stop when we were engulfed by smoke. If you have ever experienced being in a
motorhome or car and it starts to smoke, well, you know how we felt. Doc literally flew out the door as I grabbed
the fire extinguisher. My heart was pounding so loud I almost didn't hear the anguished cry that came from Doc as
he said, "Oh no, we lost our transmission." I called out, "are we on fire?" I was very pleased to hear that we were
not, and he didn't know why. The transmission fluid had poured out all over the hot exhaust pipe, resulting in the
smoke we had experienced. I went outside and Doc was in a horrible state of mind. He pointed to the 50 yards by
3-foot patch of fluid on the ground that ended under our motorhome. My heart sank and my stomach turned. I turned
to Doc as I stepped back into the motorhome and said, "I don't accept this. This is absolutely not happening and I
will not accept this as real!"
We had an appointment to make in Los Angeles, and it was very important that we be there. A breakdown was not on
our schedule, and I was upset, as was Doc. After he had made certain that we were not going to catch on fire, he
returned inside the motorhome. "I don't accept this either," he said. I replied that "we create our own reality and
we can change this."
Doc and I then went into gratitude. We thanked Spirit (God) and our guides for fixing the problem and we didn't
care how they did it. We explained that if there was a reason for us to be stopped for some reason, that was OK,
but a breakdown was not. We decided to give it an hour or so, and have some lunch. We would check things over after
that and make our decisions then. We knew this would give the engine time to cool down and us also. When that hour
had gone by, Doc started to check all the fluids. Brake fluid, fine, oil, fine, steering fluid, fine, transmission
fluid, was also completely full. WHAT!! Doc couldn't believe what he was seeing; the transmission fluid was not
missing a drop. Now, I know I saw it on the ground behind us, now he was telling me something different.
A smile came over both our faces at the same time, a miracle had occurred. We had prayed for divine intervention
and had received it. This was not a small miracle, this one was a BIG one and we were very grateful and expressed
it. Doc turned on the motorhome and put it through the gears, all worked. With a big smile he headed on down the
highway.
We came upon a rest stop up the road and decided to stop and give it another look, just to be sure all was OK.
Again, we needed to let it cool down. Doc went on a little walk around the area and came upon a young man with the
hood of his car up. Doc and I try to help anyone we can and mechanics is something Doc is very good at.
He asked what was wrong and it was not good. To make matters worst, this man was on his way to a new job in Oregon,
and if he didn't get there he and his family would be in big financial trouble, he was really worried.
I had assisted Doc in vehicle repairs before, so I know how he can improvise with what he has. We carry with us in
the motorhome a HUGE assortment of stuff to fix just about anything, but not a new thermostat for this man's car.
The piece was cast iron and not fixable, usually. Doc made a gasket from some gasket material, mixed up some epoxy,
and bolted the whole thing in place. It settled for about an hour and it worked fine.
The man was very thankful and we were happy for him, and he was on his way. Doc and I realized that Spirit was
answering this man's prayers when we broke down. We probably would not have stopped at this rest stop if we had not
had the transmission problem, or had been there to help out. We have expressed to Spirit to please find a way to
get us where we are required, without the stress we went through with our motorhome.
